IT'S AN ICE CHEST OR A FREEZER/REFRIGERATOR
Frigid Rigid has been making its standard line of ice chests for the marine and outdoor market since 1985. It is now bringing its proven technology to the truck market.
Frigid Rigid has introduced a new product line of ice chests, freezers and refrigerators that are designed to be mounted in the back of standard or compact size pickup trucks. These truck boxes have all of the design features that make our standard line of ice chests the most efficient coolers made today. In most environments, these chests can keep ice from 7-10 days. Frigid Rigid combines fiberglass exterior and interior construction, two inches of polyurethane high density foam insulation and "D" ring air tight seal to make the strongest and most efficient ice chest available today. Because of the strong construction of this box, it can be used as dry storage and will withstand the weight of heavy tools and other equipment.
SIZES
These ice chests are available for both the standard size and compact size pick-up trucks. They are available with a dual (two 138 quart compartments) or single (285 quart) compartments. There is a nine-inch open space from the bottom of the box to the bed. This allows for full-length storage in the bed for such things as 4 x 8 sheets of plywood. Two lids are on each box allowing for easy access from either side of the truck.
CUSTOM COLORS
In addition to our standard colors, we can match the color of your truck. If you want the color of your ice chest to match your truck, Frigid Rigid will need the make, model, year and the color code of your truck. There is an additional charge for custom colors.
CONSTRUCTION
The ice chest is made of fiberglass with a gel coat finish. Two inches of high-density polyurethane foam is injected in the box to give it a high insulation value and make it extremely strong. This is the same method that is used to make boat hulls. Because of the gel coat finish, the surface is scratch and dent resistant.
RECESS DRAIN
There are two drains in each ice chest facing to the rear of the truck. Each drain is recessed so the box can drain, automatically eliminating the need to tip the box in order to drain it.
REFRIGERATION
All models of the box are available with refrigeration. A 12-volt Danfoss compressor, condenser, fan and thermostat are mounted in a compartment inside the box. These components use the power from your truck electrical system. Theses boxes can be set to operate in the freezing mode or in the refrigeration mode. Because of Frigid Rigid's patented system, the refrigeration coils are on the outside of the inner liner. This eliminates the use of cold plates, which can be easily damaged. The inside of the box is smooth and can be used for dry storage when not in the refrigeration mode. Additionally, there is an automatic control that senses your truck battery, and when it falls below a pre-programmed voltage, it will shut off the refrigeration equipment so that your truck battery does not run down.
